Music can make a significant difference in any social event. Whether CD music, live band or a solo performer, music is essential in making any event special and successful.

During weddings, everyone will expect music to be played in certain parts of the wedding and they expect that they are just the right songs. No one will expect to hear sad songs during the wedding or fast pop songs during the ceremony. Every song has to be carried out properly and played at the right time.

Make sure you have songs during the ceremony, arrival of the guests, cutting the cake, the couple s first dance, and at the reception party. Even if you are using professional DJ s or other wedding professionals, make sure to go through the play list personally to be sure that the songs are to your liking.

– Music during the ceremony Especially if you are having a traditional Catholic wedding, most churches will require only Catholic songs to be played during the ceremony to respect the solemnity of the wedding. Generally, most religious groups will allow only their dedicated wedding ceremony songs to be played, while there may be a handful who will allow new love songs to be played. Be sure to check with your church to see what songs are allowed.

– Music during the arrival of the guests At the reception venue, once the guests arrive, play fast but soft background music. At this point, the guests will be mingling with each other and you do not want them competing with loud volume music. At the reception, you will have much more flexibility in which songs you choose to play.

– Music during the cutting of the cake This symbolic part in the wedding requires music that is a bit fast and loud (think happy music instead of rock). The cutting of the cake is usually fairly quick, so just one good song will do.

– Music during the first dance This important part of the wedding should play music that is important to the couple as well. Whether their theme song, a song from the soundtrack of a special movie, or maybe even an original composition, it should be a song that is fitting for the couple. You should also pick songs for any other special dances, like the dance between the bride and her father and the groom and her mother.

– Music during the reception party make sure that everyone, which means all of your guests across all generations, gets to dance during the reception party. Play music as far back as the 60 s or 70 s and play newer tunes as well, depending on your guests and their preferences.

The right wedding songs can bring not just the couple, but everyone to a heightened sense of romance. In some ways, wedding songs can even cue the guests as to which part of the wedding they are in. Pick the right wedding songs and your guests will truly enjoy your wedding from start to finish.
